Dr James Pearce-Higgins

Dr James Pearce-Higgins (CoI) is Director of Science at the British Trust for Ornithology. He also leads BTO's climate change research, where he has developed an understanding of the impacts of climate change on peatland birds, and of the mechanisms through which climate change affects biodiversity more generally. His book, Birds and Climate Change: Impacts and Conservation Responses with Rhys Green, was published by CUP in 2014.

 

In recent years, he has led six interdisciplinary climate change research consortia funded by Defra, Natural England and CCI. He leads the JNCC-BTO Partnership which >£400K of work per annum. He has authored over 80 scientific journal publications, as well as multiple scientific reports and book chapters.
